HARDCOVER, bound in contemporary black calf and matching boards, spine lettered and decorated in gilt, vellum corners, extremities bit rubbed, paper over boards bit creased. In a very good condition. ~ FIRST EDITION. The plate volume of this very rare official French artillery manual. The work is divided into 10 main sections, including "École du canonnier" (plates I-IX), "Service des bouches a feu de bataille" (X-XXI), "Service des bouches a feu de siége" (XXVII-XLVbis), "École de section" (LVI-LXVIII), "École de batterie" (LXIX-LXXXI) and "Évolutions de batteries" (LXXXII-XCVI). Previously in the library of the Dutch Horse Artillery Corps with small initials stamp on title-page and minute gilt lettering at foot of spine. Not in Sloos. D-3 .
